A winning combination for when I’m in pinch for time is the dry shampoo + hat = VA VA Voom in seconds. Whoever invented dry shampoo should be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Not only does it give you a quick refresh, but the “I just blow dried my hair” look, too!
Make sure you let the dry shampoo sit and do its magic on your hair before you brush or fluff. Mine says to let it sit for 1-2 minutes. I love the Bio Keratin brand Argan Volumizing Dry Shampoo I found at Marshalls for $5.99 (normally retailing at $12.) It has a citrus scent and absorbs well. (Sorry, I couldn’t find an online link to purchase it.)
It also leaves my hair with a beautiful healthy looking gloss instead of the dull, faded look I’ve gotten from other brands. Another tip is to spray your hair holding the can 8-10 inches away from your head, otherwise you blast the product in one small spot and it’s harder to brush out the miracle powder.
Marshall’s and TJ Maxx are my go to places for quality hair products at discount prices. When I start to run low, I cruise through to see what they have. It’s hit or miss, but the cheapest you will find for what you get. The downside is you’re not guaranteed to see the product again, so if you like adventure and experimenting, it’s a great option.
I used to be a product junkie, but now I limit myself to the thinning, naturally flat, mom hair essentials: dry shampoo, thickening spray (another “blow dry in bottle” trick) or texturing powder (amazing root booster for morning flat head), traditional volumizer i.e. mousse, heat protector, and a can of hair spray-the stiffest level I can find.
This is my last post in the series of the fabulous ponte pants. Thanks for sticking with me. It’s been a blast styling these super versatile bottoms. This military vest is one of my staples and one of my signature pieces. In our mild California climate, I wear it year round. It’s a chic layering piece that adds personality to jeans and a tee. This and some fun/statement shoes are all you need for a quickie pulled together look.
I’ve confessed to being a striped shirt addict. This winter capsule I only allowed myself one striped shirt, but when I saw this for $12 at Banana Republic, I couldn’t resist! It hits my hips at just the right length to look super slimming.
