Have you felt a little left behind when it comes to expanding your jeans beyond the skinny style? It’s a common concern my ladies have been asking me about. Here are tips shared inside my Petite Style Society on how to wear looser jeans.
Straight leg: fits best on slim hips. Curvy hips very hard to find a flattering style if any.
Boyfriend/girlfriend: a more forgiving version of straight leg. KUT boyfriend cut I have found to be flattering for many body types. These jeans are meant to be rolled up.
Baggy: This style needs a lot of trial and error. I have it looks best on slimmer taller frames.
Wide leg: Those with slimmer hips and thighs have an easier time finding a flattering pair. If you have curves, look for a pair that skims your curves (hips and thighs) and are slightly wider at the bottom to balance you out.
Cropped styles visually shorten so matching your shoe and pants colors helps elongate your leg-line.
Kick flare: These are easiest to wear for slim hips, oval/apple shapes. If you are curvy look for a pair that fit well in the hips and flare out enough to balance you out at the bottom. If the bell is too small, it won’t be as flattering.
Bootcut: Very flattering for slim to medium hips and thighs. You can them to hit the top of your shoe and wear as long as you can to lengthen your leg-line. Consider one pair for flats and one pair for heels. (Hem accordingly)
Flare: A great option if you have fuller hips and thighs. Look for a pair that is fitted at top to the knees and then bell out below the knee. You can them to hit the top of your shoe and wear as long as you can to lengthen your leg-line. Consider one pair for flats and one pair for heels. (Hem accordingly)

I like your guide for jeans. I am 5’2”. I do take my pants or jeans to a tailor. I am 65 and I cannot wear heels anymore. I do wear a 1.5 inch pump to church. I do read all your tips and try to follow some. In Michigan it is hard with the weather. I will be wearing looser tops for a bit as I am having surgery for breast cancer. Thank you for all your tips.
